Caribou – Edward H. Ballou, 76, of Caribou, died peacefully November 19, 2009 at the home of his friend, Nel Duguay and his daughter, Debbie, from a short battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Abbie Cilley Ballou Lawrence and the late Edward Victor Ballou. Edward was born May 23, 1933, in Randolph, Vermont. 
Eddie served in the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany. He also raced horses in the New England states for over 50 years. He was also a barber and truck driver for many years. Eddie was a jack of all trades.
Edward is survived by his four daughters, Sue Barry of Houstonville, Kentucky, Debra Waugh of Winslow and Caribou, Susan Tarr of Holiday, Florida, and Nancy Emslie of Carrboro, North Carolina; a sister, Irene Izzo and her husband Sam Izzo of Randolph, Vermont; four nephews, Steve, Scott, Michael and Anthony; seven grandchildren, Heather, Tonya, Christopher, Amber, Cassandra, Anna and Andrew. Eddie leaves his best friends, Charlie Hitchcock and Bud Brewer of Caribou and Art Davignon of Cumberland.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in the spring.
