Larsen, Genevieve E., 95, Washburn, in Mars Hill, November 21, 2009. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27 2009, at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle. Interment will be in Crouseville Cemetery. Arrangements in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.

 

    WASHBURN – Genevieve E. Larsen, 95, died  Saturday, November 21, 2009, at a Mars Hill Health Care facility. She was born in Mars Hill on August 16, 1914, the daughter of Amon and Ethel (McCann) Sennett.  
    Gennie graduated from Aroostook Central Institute, Class of 1931. She worked for many years as a sales clerk at J.J. Newberry in Mars Hill, Bud Cole’s Clothing store in Washburn, and Zayre Dept. Store in Presque Isle as manager of the fabric department. In 1938, she married Carl Larsen and they made their home in Mars Hill, Caribou, and Washburn. Gennie enjoyed many crafts such as knitting, crocheting, and plastic canvas. Gennie and Carl attended many craft fairs selling their woodworking and handiwork. Gennie and Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowsledding, and spending time at camp.
    She is survived by her grandson, Dwight Helstrom Jr. and his wife Stephanie of Hudson; granddaughter, Vicky Helstrom and her fiancé Blake Kirby of Williamsburg, N.B.; a stepgrandson, William Larsen and his wife Kathy of Houlton; four great-grandchildren, Kasey and Sara Helstrom of Williamsburg N.B., and Carl and Anna Helstrom of Hudson; a sister-in-law, Mary Hagerman of Gorham; a son-in-law, David Waller of Caribou, Rena Kearney of Mars Hill who thought of Gennie as her second mother; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also leaves her close friends who shared many memories and special times, Eugene and Kay Brown, Ken and Thelma Espling, Kevin and Cindy Goodine and Michele Desfosses. She was predeceased by her husband, Carl in May 2000 and a daughter, Ada Waller in July 2008.
    Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle with Pastor Lawrence Beals officiating.
