Officials investigate theft

    E PLANTATION — Law enforcement officials are seeking the public’s help in finding the person or persons responsible for a theft earlier this fall at Sylver Logging Inc.’s site in a remote section of Aroostook County.     According to the Aroostook County Sheriff’s Office, the Crime Stoppers Crime of the Month took place sometime between Sept. 17 and 21 and involved theft from a woods operation site in the Burntland Stream area of E Plantation.
    “Sylver Logging Inc. reported that various tools and equipment were taken from a school bus that was used for equipment storage,” said Sgt. Shawn Van Tasel, ACSO.
    Van Tasel said the thieve(s) broke into the bus and removed several items.
    “Removed from the bus were a number of tools the logging company used in their woods operation, including: a suitcase-style Lincoln MIG welder with a red case; one Dewalt half-inch cordless impact wrench; one Milwaukee three-quarter-inch cordless impact wrench; one 4-inch Makita grinder; one set of Allen wrenches up to 1 inch in diameter; one set of sockets; one assorted pack of welding rods; one Johnsered turbo chainsaw; and a spare key from a John Deere de-limber,” said Van Tasel.

You do not have to give your name; anyone providing information that leads to a Grand Jury indictment on this crime will receive a $1,000 cash award. Crime Stoppers will also pay for information on other felony crimes.
