Rain and cold temperatures throughout the state Saturday forced the postponement of the Eastern Maine Cross Country Championships in Belfast. The meet is being made up this Saturday, Oct. 31. Presque Isle’s girls team will compete in the Class B competition at 12:10 p.m., with the Wildcat boys to follow at 12:45 p.m.
The Class A meet will preceed the ‘B’ meet, with the Class C competition to follow.
Medals will be presented to the top 10 finishers in each class. Half of the teams that start the race will qualify for the state championships. The top 20 finishers in the Class B race will qualify as individuals for the state competition.
According to the Weather Channel’s web site, Saturday’s forecast in Belfast is for cloudy skies with a 20 percent chance of precipitation. Temperatures could reach 63 degrees.
The state meet will now be held at Cumberland on Nov. 7, with the New England meet scheduled for the following Saturday, Nov. 14.
