PRESQUE ISLE — Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing man who may be in need of medical attention.
“Using an automated system, the department sent a message to homes and businesses in the community Monday night, requesting assistance in locating Richard Crowley, 31, who reportedly is in need of medical assistance,” said Sgt. Mark Barnes, Presque Isle Police Department. Crowley is described as being Caucasian, with brown hair and green eyes, is 6 feet tall and weighs approximately 185 lbs. He was last seen driving his stepfather’s white 2001 Ford Taurus, license plate Maine 5929NS, according to Barnes, and was last seen in the vicinity of 38 Park St. around 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 5.
“He may have been heading south. His license lists his last known residence in Bath,” said Barnes.
According to Barnes, the system is similar to an Amber Alert but covers people of all ages.
“It’s our new phone message system that automatically sends an announcement whenever a person with health issues of any kind is reported missing. Amber Alerts deal strictly with children; this system covers both adults and children,” explained Barnes. “Health issues could be anything from Alzheimer’s to diabetes or other mental disorders.”
