Elderly driver stikes library

    AN ELDERLY DRIVER had difficulty parking in the handicapped spot at the Mark & Emily Turner Memorial Library on Second St. Sept. 18. According to the Presque Isle Police Department police log, the driver, Rachel H. Burden, 88, of Presque Isle, reported her foot slipped off the brake and onto the accelerator, causing her to strike the building. The Presque Isle Fire Department, Crown Ambulance and Officer Roger Ellis of the PIPD responded to the scene around 10:13 a.m. Burden was checked out by emergency personnel at the scene. The Ford sedan sustained front-end damage, with little damage to the library.
