NorState Federal Credit Union is proud to announce the successful completion of its two-day Special Olympics Golf Scramble, which raised $18,250 in support of Special Olympics Maine athletes in Aroostook County. The tournament, which honors the legacy of the long-running Cloukey Challenge, was held on Friday, July 11 at Long Lake Country Club in St. David and on Saturday, July 12 at Mars Hill Country Club.

The event drew widespread participation from golfers, sponsors, volunteers and community members, all coming together to champion inclusion and opportunity for individuals with intellectual disabilities. Funds raised from the tournament will directly benefit local Special Olympics programs, helping to provide year-round training, competitions and health and wellness opportunities for athletes across Aroostook County.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support from our community, sponsors, and volunteers who made this event a success,” said Danielle Hebert, NorState FCU director of community engagement. “To raise over $18,000 in our first year carrying on the Cloukey Challenge mission is a testament to the strength and generosity of our region. These funds will make a meaningful difference in the lives of our local athletes.”

Continuing the tradition of the Cloukey Challenge, the NorState FCU Golf Scramble brought together golfers of all skill levels in a spirited and inclusive environment. The two-day format not only expands the event’s reach but also allows for deeper community involvement and increases awareness of the Special Olympics mission.

The credit union extends its thanks to all sponsors and donors who contributed to the event’s success, as well as to Long Lake Country Club and Mars Hill Country Club for their hospitality and support.

“We are proud to continue this legacy and look forward to growing the event in the years to come,” Hebert added.
