Wednesday – Friday
High pressure will build across the Valley today with mostly clear to partly cloudy skies, though smoke-haze from Canadian wildfires will be present. Conditions will be hot and muggy with only a slight chance of an isolated shower or thunderstorm thanks to a weak trough aloft this afternoon. However, high-resolution forecast models are not showing any significant activity today in comparison to yesterday.Highs today reach the low 90s. Tonight, mostly clear skies become partly cloudy after midnight as a cold front approaches from the west/northwest with an increased chance of showers after midnight. Lows in the mid-60s are anticipated overnight.
Mostly cloudy skies overspread the SJV Thursday with a chance of showers and thunderstorms, especially in the afternoon. While severe weather is not currently anticipated, due to ample moisture aloft, any thunderstorms will be capable of producing locally heavy downpours along with gusty storm winds. The Weather Predication Center has the region at marginal risk for localized flash flooding. Highs Thursday reach the mid-80s. Thursday night, expect showers and isolated thunderstorms with lows in the upper 50s.
High pressure brings drier air into the SJV Friday with skies becoming mostly sunny. Highs will be in the middle 70s with lower dewpoints creating more comfortable conditions across the region. Friday night, mostly clear skies with lows in the lower 50s are expected.
Saturday – Tuesday
High pressure remains across the region Saturday with mostly sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s/low 80s. Partly cloudy skies develop Saturday night as low pressure and a frontal system approach with increasing chances of rain. Lows fall into the middle 50s.
Sunday into Monday, a cold front looks to approach and cross the area with partly sunny/partly cloudy skies and a chance of rain by Sunday afternoon along with isolated thunderstorms; the timing and strength of the front are still uncertain, however.
A chance of showers continues Sunday night into early Monday. High pressure will build into the region later Monday into Tuesday with dry conditions and mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies.
