HOULTON, Maine — For the first time in a decade, the traditional Houlton Agricultural Fair truck pulls are back this year with even more horsepower added to the line-up, according to fair organizers.

The gates open in Houlton at noon on Friday, July 11, and the three-day event runs through Sunday, July 13. The gates open on Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m., and the midway and Smokey’s Greater Shows open at noon on all three days.

The 2025 Houlton Agricultural Fair’s new schedule is packed from morning till night with traditional favorites like the demolition derby, cooking contests, exhibit hall and midway, as well as some new vendors and events.

Kids can experience a rainfall simulator during kids day on Friday and Lasting Impressions chain saw artist, Scotty Gagnon, will be making new sculptures at the fair all three days.

This year, Ride North Harley-Davidson is rolling into the fair on Saturday for The Bike Show, with registration at 11 a.m. and judging at noon. According to fair organizers, The Bike Show offers the opportunity for riders to show off their machines.

And on Sunday, at the Community Park softball field, there will be a car show that includes a mix of classic cars and custom builds.

Houlton’s first fair was in 1847 and it has continued in many different forms since then. In the mid-1800s the Maine Press Association invited state editors to the Houlton and Presque Isle fairs, increasing interest in the County.

The fair is located next to Houlton Middle High School. There is a $10 gate fee, parking is free. Midway games and food are not included in the gate fee. The fair wraps up on Sunday at 8 p.m.
