DANFORTH, Maine — East Grand School is proud to recognize Aiden McEwen as the salutatorian for the Class of 2025. McEwen’s journey through high school showcases the power of hard work, community engagement and taking full advantage of the unique opportunities East Grand has to offer.

A multi-talented student and athlete, McEwen was a dedicated member of the East Grand basketball team balancing the demands of sports with a strong academic record. His passion for the game has also led him to recently earn his IAABO certification, officially qualifying him to referee basketball games — a step that speaks to both his leadership and commitment to the sport beyond the court.

McEwen is also a standout in East Grand’s Small Business Pathway. He completed all four of Mr. Apgar’s career courses, gaining valuable insights into entrepreneurship, financial literacy and workplace readiness. These courses have equipped him with a solid foundation for his next steps: starting his college journey at Northern Maine Community College to pursue an associate degree, with a long-term goal of earning an MBA.

Real-world experience has been a key part of McEwen’s education. Through East Grand’s Extended Learning Opportunities, he’s had hands-on placements at both Knights and Danforth Hardware Store where he applied what he learned in the classroom to real business settings.

“Aiden is the kind of student who doesn’t just meet expectations — he exceeds them,” said one of his teachers. “He’s respectful, driven and always looking for ways to grow.”

As McEwen prepares to graduate, he leaves behind a legacy of initiative and follow-through. East Grand School celebrates not just his academic success, but his character and contributions to the school community.

Congratulations on this well-deserved honor!
