The American Red Cross of Northern New England recently honored several Aroostook County volunteers with the President’s Volunteer Service Award.

The awards were presented on April 30 at a ceremony in Caribou.

Four volunteers received the award based on their volunteer hours in the last fiscal year. The recipients were: gold level, Robert Bouchard of Frenchville; silver, Dan Thibodeau of Madawaska and William Thomas of Woodland; and bronze, Logan Whitsitt of Presque Isle.

The American Red Cross of Northern New England congratulated the four recipients and thanked all Aroostook County volunteers for their support of the mission.

“Volunteers are the heart of the Red Cross and we are grateful for our team in Aroostook County,” aid Brian Bouley, community manager for the Red Cross in Aroostook County.

“They represent nearly all of our workforce in The County and help us to deliver our humanitarian mission every day and their compassion helps ensure our neighbors do not face some of the most challenging times of their lives alone,” Bouley said.

Maine’s 600 Red Cross volunteers logged nearly 42,000 hours last year supporting blood drives, assisting veterans and military families and providing food and shelter after disasters of all sizes, Bouley said.
