Katahdin Trust promotes Cadigan to branch manager, community banking officer

CARIBOU, Maine – Katahdin Trust Company, a community bank serving northern Maine and the greater Bangor and Portland regions, is pleased to announce the promotion of Jennifer Cadigan to branch manager and community banking officer of the Bank’s Caribou and Van Buren branch locations. Cadigan will take the place of Peggy Smith, who is retiring at the end of February after 24 years of dedicated service to Katahdin Trust and 44 years in the financial services industry. Smith joined Katahdin Trust in 2000 and has been the branch manager in Caribou since 2008, adding Van Buren in 2015.

“Peggy has been a wonderful asset to the Bank and her community,” said Angela Tennett, executive vice president, chief banking officer. “She will be missed immensely. We are very thankful for her commitment to the Bank and wish her all the best in her retirement.”

Cadigan

With over 13 years of banking experience, Cadigan brings with her a strong background in financial services and a passion for customer service. She began her career at Katahdin Trust in 2022 as a community banker II in Caribou. In her new role, Cadigan will be responsible for retail lending, and the daily management of both the Caribou and Van Buren branches. She has been working closely with Smith since October to help with her transition to branch manager.

“Jennifer has shown great leadership and growth in her short time with Katahdin Trust,” added Tennett. “She has earned this promotion, and I am confident that she will help to grow the Bank’s presence in both the Caribou and Van Buren communities.”

Cadigan obtained her associate in science in business administration career, specializing in retail management, is a 2023 graduate of the Young Professionals Institute, and participated in Leadership Aroostook in 2025. Prior to joining Katahdin Trust, she was a universal teller for Webster Bank and a banking associate for St. Anne’s Credit Union in Massachusetts.
