PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The County Federal Credit Union is pleased to honor Clifford Barker with director emeritus status for his years of service to the organization. He is The County’s first board of directors member to receive this designation.

Barker began his tenure on the board of directors in 1983 at Houlton Federal Credit Union. The County Federal Credit Union and Houlton Federal Credit Union merged in 2010, bringing Barker onto The County’s board of directors.

“We are honored to recognize Cliff as our first director emeritus,” said Ryan Ellsworth, president & CEO. “This designation is a testament to his extraordinary 40 years of dedicated service, leadership, and unwavering commitment to our credit union and its members. His contributions have shaped our growth and success, and we are grateful to continue benefitting from his invaluable knowledge and experience in the new capacity. Cliff has left an indelible mark on our organization, and this recognition reflects the deep respect and gratitude we hold for his legacy.”

Though a director emeritus is not a voting member of the board of directors, they provide insight and historical perspective to the board. Barker will act in an advisory role and continue to contribute to the organization without the commitment of a full board position.

“We have been so fortunate to have Cliff’s knowledge and expertise as a member of our board of directors these past many years,” said Board Chair Tamra Kilcollins. “His dedication to, and support of, his hometown and all of the communities we serve is evident in all that he does. We sincerely thank Cliff for his many years of volunteer service to our board and look forward to his continued role as the first director emeritus in the credit union’s history.”

Barker is a retired insurance representative for Prudential Insurance Company and a United States Army veteran. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus—Houlton Council and Rocabema Lodge #78 IOOF and a former chair of the board of directors for Houlton Federal Credit Union. Barker lives in Houlton with his wife Janet and enjoys visiting their family and friends throughout the region.
