HOULTON, Maine – Katahdin Trust, a local community bank that serves northern Maine and the greater Bangor and Portland regions, has announced that the Anah Temple Shriners was selected to be the recipient of funds raised by Katahdin Trust employees through the Bank’s Casual Because We Care program.
“Each year many local organizations are taken into consideration when determining the recipient of the funds from this program,” said Natasha McCarthy, executive vice president, chief human resources officer. “Our employees decide the recipient and look for an organization who best aligns with the Bank’s values, commitment, integrity, service and teamwork and The Anah Temple Shriners is a great example of this.”
The Casual Because We Care program was designed to help Katahdin Trust employees give back to their local communities while having fun at work. Those who wish to participate in the program are asked to donate a minimum of $1 in exchange for the privilege to wear jeans each Friday and Saturday.

“We are so thankful for this generous donation of $2,500 supporting the Anah Shriners 2024 First Lady Project,” said Adam Beals, 2024 ANAH Potentate. “Lady Jaime Beals has chosen to donate monies raised through her “Dress for the Cause” fundraiser and external donations like this one to Shriner’s New England – Springfield. A specific earmark for their “Myoelectric prosthetics” program for the treatment of children with congenital and acquired limb deficiencies. This donation will help us reach our goals of helping these children engage more fully in school, sports and everyday activities that other kids may take for granted.”
Since 1921, the Anah Shriners have worked tirelessly to help children all over the country. The Anah Shriners are dedicated to helping lead fundraising for the Shriners’ philanthropy, The Shriners Hospitals for Children. All year long the Anah Shriners raise funds for The Shriners Hospital for Children – Springfield and The Shriners Hospital for Children – Boston. The Anah Shriners work to help children daily and have fun while doing so!
