Grand Opening – Levite Rossignol, a vice president of the Aroostook County Federal Savings and Loan Association, cut the ribbon in grand opening ceremonies of the Associations Madawaska branch office on a Thursday in December of 1974. Along with the venerable Rossignol were Diane Fongemie, teller; Msgr. Albert Long; Elizabeth Kirkpatrick, vice-president from Caribou and Debra Roy, teller.
25 Years Ago — December 22, 1999
Awarding recognition – Thibodeau’s Insurance Company of Fort Kent presented the Pelletier brothers of Pelletier Farms in Frenchville a plaque and red jackets in recognition of their achievements as recipients of the Fort Fairfield Chamber of Commerce Farm Family of the Year award. Pelletier Farms has been a customer of Maine Mutual Fire Insurance Company since 1978. Presenting the award on behalf of Thibodeau’s Insurance was Vice-President Scott Kent and Pelletier brothers Jim, Danny and Phil.

New tourism center — An information cabin on the corner of State Street and U.S. Route 1 has been decorated for the holiday season with wreaths, red bows, presents and three Christmas trees. Van Buren resident Lorne Madore built the cabin this summer with volunteers while preparing for Congrès Mondial Acadien 2014 / 2014 World Acadian Congress. The cabin was funded by the Van Buren CMA committee and then donated to the Van Buren Chamber of Commerce.
