Veronica and Betty were feral cats about 8 or 10 months old living in a colony on Veronica Street in Caribou. They have remained very close friends. After capture and a stay in a foster home, they went to the Halfway Home Pet Rescue Adoption Center. After three years of learning to trust humans, they were ready for adoption into a good home. Danny Steeves offered them a home together in his new house and they are doing great. From feral colony to being bed/couch potatoes in a home, these cats now have a quiet and peaceful life. HHPR is a state-licensed, non-profit feline rescue and rehabilitation center. From its food pantry, more than 200 at-risk animals in Aroostook County receive food daily.
