
Senior companions with UMaine Center on Aging were recently honored. Receiving pins were front row from left volunteers Yvonne McEachern, Isabelle Saucier, Retired AAAA Volunteer Station Supervisor Brenda Barker, SCP Coordinators Kim Hazlett and Terri Eldridge; and back, volunteers Frances McKenney, Anna Barnes, Margaret Dudley, Kathy Miskelly, Sandra Boykin, Judith Willigar, Avis Ford, guest Pat Couture and volunteer Glenn Spellman. Collectively, these Aroostook County volunteers have served 99 years in the program.

HOULTON, Maine — In celebration of National Volunteerism Week, the Senior Companion Program honored its volunteers state-wide with an appreciation pin.
Senior Companions visit with people who are homebound or isolated in some way to help combat loneliness. They also help to keep people living independently in their own homes. Ten volunteers were honored in Aroostook County.
To be a senior companion, individuals must be at least 55-years-old and to receive a stipend one must meet an income eligibility guideline.
