Lois Eva Lister

     LAS CRUCES, NM, and CARIBOU—Lois Eva Lister passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2015, at Mesilla Valley Hospice in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She was born in Caribou, March 19, 1937, the daughter of the Raymond Beric and Fern Emily (Jones) Walton.

     She was a devoted, caring, loving and giving wife, moth- er, grandmother, great-grand- mother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. Her love, com- passion and vigor were apparent in all aspects of her life. She was born and raised in Aroostook County, where she married the love of her life, Wayne Lister on December 7, 1954. They were married 61 years and together they spent most of their life living in Aroostook County. They also lived in southern California and the past eight years in Las Cruces, NM.

     In addition to raising her three children, she assisted her husband in the operation of a sign business and art gallery in Caribou. She was active in the Caribou Business and Professional Women organization. Lois loved the outdoors and enjoyed walking, exercising and singing. During their retirement in Las Cruces, she was active in the choir and karaoke groups at the Trails West Senior Community.

     She is survived by her sister, Joyce Hobbs of Caribou; hus- band, Wayne Lister of Las Cruces, NM; son, Ray Lister of Las Cruces, NM; daugh- ters, Pam Belzil of Lancaster, CA, and Vickie Jacobs of Perry Hall, MD; grand-children, Lorraine Jury, Erin Lister, Ben, Michael, Joe, and Eva Belzil, Garret Jacobs; great-grandchildren, Tyler Lister, Madison and Trent Machado, Cailean and Lucas Belzil. She was preceded by her parents and sister, Shirley Alvarez.

     A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2015, at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir St., Caribou with a visitation from 9:30-11 a.m. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.      A celebration of life gather- ing and pot luck luncheon will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, at the Trails West Senior Community club house located at 1450 Avenida de Mesilla, Las Cruces, NM 88005. Her fam- ily would like to extend their gratitude to the skillful and compassionate staff at Mesilla Valley Hospice.
