MSSM staff change roles

    LIMESTONE — In addition to several new employees and faculty members joining the Maine School of Mathematics this academic year, other staff at the school have assumed new roles.

    Deborah McGannARSHPT DEBORAH MCGANN 15817633 a familiar face at MSSM, now serves as the dean of faculty. In that capacity, she oversees all aspects of the school’s academic program and is responsible for creating a safe and conducive learning environment for all MSSM students. Prior to being named dean of faculty,     McGann spent the past 18 years as an MSSM employee, working as summer camp director, dean of admissions, and science instructor. Before that, she was a science specialist with the University of Maine at Presque Isle.
McGann has an MS in food science from UMaine. She and her husband, Michael, reside in Presque Isle.

 

    Sarah Stackhouse  will have several duties at the school, including athletic director, administrative assistant to residential life and student adviser.
    “My new titles, athletics director and student adviser, compliment my work in ResLife and allow me to further assist our students in achieving their (academic, athletic and residential) goals,” she said.ARSHPT SARAH STACKHOUSE 15817635
    Stackhouse holds a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science from the University of Maine at Presque Isle. The athletic director position is new to MSSM and will currently only involve the cross country and track and field programs.
    “As the AD, I will be responsible for determining student athlete eligibility, scheduling meets, and coordinating with coaches and area leagues. I will also continue to advise Prom Committee‚ “ affectionately known as PromComm‚ “ and coach MSSM’s Envirothon team. We were regional champions in 2014 and 2015,” noted Stackhouse.
    Stackhouse, who’s entering her sixth year working for MSSM, resides in Stockholm.
    Danielle Deschaine has transitioned from the admissions office across the hall and now serves as the executive assistant to MSSM Executive Director Luke Shorty and to the president and CEO of the MSSM Foundation.
    Deschaine holds an associate’s degree in business. She’s held a variety of positions over the years. “I have been working all of my adult life in various exciting organizations, both private and public,” she said.
    She and her husband reside in Fort Fairfield. They have two children and five grandchildren.

 

    Nadia Thompson ARSHPT NADIA THOMPSON 15817637 was named the school’s receptionist and administrative assistant to the summer camp director.
    “This is my first job in education. I am also available to assist everyone who works here with a variety of needs,” noted Thompson.
    Thompson and her husband, Matt, live in Caswell with their 4-year-old daughter, Maddie, and 10-month- old identical twin sons, Henry and Morgan.
