Friday, Sept. 18

CARIBOU: The Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery will hold a ceremony honoring POW/MIA at 1 p.m. Guest speakers, musical selections and program will be featured, and there will be laying of the memorial wreath. All are welcome.

Saturday, Sept. 19

FORT KENT: UMFK will host its 6th annual Classic and Custom Car Show from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on the university campus, part of Homecoming and the Scarecrow Festival. Free; open to the public. On-site vendors, face painting, entertainment and family fun.

Monday, Sept. 21

PRESQUE ISLE: The Central Aroostook Kennel Club will offer Canine Good Manners classes at the PI recreation building. Cost is $70. Positive clicker training. Preregistration required; FMI call Lisa, 764-7651.

Tuesday, Sept. 22

AROOSTOOK COUNTY: Aroostook Retired Educators Association will meet at the Caribou Inn & Convention Center for dinner at noon. Registration is at 11. Cost of the meal is $13. Pat Bennett will discuss trusts and wills. Musical selections by Dan Ladner. Business meeting with installation of officers will follow.

CARIBOU: The Caribou Choral Society will begin rehearsals at 7 p.m. in the recreation room of the Mormon Church, 67 Paris Snow Ave. All singers interested in advanced four-part singing welcome. Rehearsals held each Tuesday until December. FMI call conductor Dan Ladner at 764-1482.

AROOSTOOK COUNTY: National Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE) will meet at the Chan Center at Cary Medical Center in Caribou (note change in date — not Sept. 24 at Jade Palace). Lunch at noon followed by fire safety talk with Fire Chief Scott Susi. FMI: 498-3406.

CARIBOU: Caribou Heritage Day celebrating the impact of the Collins family. Antique car show, vendors and food from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the downtown mall, with sign ceremony at 3 p.m. Live musicians and food vendors at Caribou High School from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Fireworks at 8: 30 at the high school.

PRESQUE ISLE: Two-day workshop with Dee Ganley, hosted by Central Aroostook Kennel Club at the Presque Isle Inn and Convention Center. Check-in/registration at 9 a.m., workshop at 9.
