In a letter to Caribou City Manager Austin Bleess, the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC), Inc., praised Farrin’s achievement.

“On behalf of the IIMC Board of Directors, I am honored to endorse the conferring of CMC to Jayne R. Farrin, CMC, of City of Caribou,” IIMC President Monica Martinez Simmons wrote. “We share your pride in this achievement and we applaud your support of the role Jayne plays in your city.”

The title is awarded by the IIMC only to those municipal clerks who complete demanding education requirements, and who have a record of significant contributions to their local government, their community and state, Simmons continued.

“In light of the speed and drastic nature of change these days, lifelong learning is not only desirable, it is necessary for all in local government to keep pace with growing demands and changing needs of the citizens we serve. Your city can take immense pride in Jayne’s educational accomplishments and achievement of this milestone,” she concluded.

Farrin joined the city office as deputy city clerk in 2007 and became city clerk in 2010 upon the retirement of Judy-Ann Corrow. She is a Certified Clerk of Maine and has graduated from the New England Municipal Clerk Institute.

A nonprofit corporation founded in 1947, the IIMC has 10,300 members in the U.S., Canada and 15 other countries. Its mission is to enhance educational and professional development of its members.
