WASHBURN NEWS

Cindi Turner of Washburn was surprised and honored at a 70th birthday party held Aug. 16 at the Hampton Inn in Presque Isle, organized by her daughter, Melanie Krum.

Her sons, Ward and Tyler, had the task of secretly getting her there. Her daughter-in-law, Julie Turner, and granddaughter, Rylie Turner, decorated the room in Melanie’s absence. A wonderful brunch was served by the hostess Jan Lucas and enjoyed by all.
A birthday cake depicting an envelope, reflecting Cindi’s job as a mail carrier, was made by a good friend, Ardis Humphrey.
Cindi received many greetings, gifts and telephone calls. Attending the party were over 70 people from near and far, including her nephew, Chris Burch, and his son Ross from Rhode Island; nephew, Joey Burch, and wife Jane and daughter Kaitlyn from Massachusetts; a niece and her husband, Cindy and Steve Karagoshian from Massachusetts; a sister-in-law and her husband, Lorraine and Michael McMullen and daughter Heidi, and two sons Craig and Brian and their wives and 11 children, all from New York; and friends Jim and Laura Mills from Arizona.
Also attending were her son, Ward Turner, and his two children, Brianna and Mitchell Turner of Washburn, and Tyler and Julie Turner and daughter Rylie of Standish, and father-in-law, Bert Turner of Washburn.
Daughter Melanie and husband, Scott Krum, and children Evan, Skylar and Braylee were unable to attend because of the birth of a new baby. Braylee Harper Krum was born July 28, 2015, weighing in at 7lbs. 3oz, to Scott and Melanie at the Maine Medical Center in Portland.
