MARS HILL
By Tomi Henderson
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met Aug. 4 at the Aroostook Health Center. The guest speaker was Claudia Stevens, executive director of the United Way of Aroostook, who spoke about the Dolly Parton Imagination Library.
The program is open to children from birth to age 5. They receive a new book every month that is age appropriate. There are currently 78 children enrolled in the program from Mars Hill and Blaine.
There have been 29,395 books distributed in Aroostook County since the program started in 2009. The end result is “a child who reads will be an adult that thinks.”
For more information, contact Stevens at the United Way office in Presque Isle at 764-5197.
