The 29th Aroostook Teen Leadership Camp (ATLC) will be held from July 26 through July 30 this summer at Northern Maine Community College in Presque Isle. Sponsored by Aroostook Mental Health Services, Inc., ATLC is a leadership development and drug prevention program open to teens currently in grades 6-8 in Aroostook County.
During camp, teens listen to national speakers talk about positive leadership, attend workshops on teen issues, participate in team building activities and small discussion groups, and take part in a variety of evening social activities including a “No-Talent Night” and dance. Campers stay in college dormitories during camp and eat meals in the college cafeteria.
Following summer camp, teens can participate in a variety of follow-up activities including planning committees, a camp reunion, monthly outings, or being a member of the ATLC Advisory Board.
Registration information is available in Aroostook County schools which have students in grades 6-8, or by calling Amber Stedt, ATLC program coordinator, at 498-6431. The deadline for registration is Friday, April 17.
