BANGOR, Maine — The East topped the West in three of the four contests in Saturday’s annual Maine McDonald’s High School Senior All-Star Basketball Games.
The East A-B boys, C-D girls and C-D boys were all victorious in their matchups, while the East A-B girls fell in their game.
Mackenzie Worcester of the Washburn Beavers tallied 16 points in her C-D team’s 74-61 victory. Meg Jellison of Fort Fairfield was also a member of the team, while Diana Trams was one of the coaches. The East C-D boys scored a 103-94 victory. Randy Norsworthy was part of the coaching staff of the winning team.
Presque Isle Wildcat teammates Hannah Graham and Krystal Kingsbury suited up for the A-B girls.
Worcester captured the foul shooting competition, downing York’s Chloe Smedley in a shoot-off after the two had both hit 46 of 50 attempts. Both Worcester and Smedley hit nine of 10 in the first round of the shoot-off before Worcester connected on all 10 attempts to break the tie.
Robbie Watson of Fort Fairfield placed second in the boys’ competition by netting 46 of his 50 attempts, one less than winner Logan Wood of Machias.
Graham, who was one of the finalists for the Miss Basketball Award given to the top girls’ player in the state, placed second in Saturday’s three-point contest.
Ashley Storey of Greely was named Miss Basketball at Friday’s awards banquet, while Houlton’s Kyle Bouchard came away with the Mr. Basketball Award.
