Guerrette to resign from Limestone Police Department

LIMESTONE, Maine — The Limestone Selectpeople met on Dec. 17 for their regular bi-monthly meeting.
One item on the agenda was acceptance of the resignation of Shawn Guerrette as a full-time police officer with the Limestone Police Department.
Guerrette’s resignation will go into effect after his final shift on Dec. 31. In January, he will begin his  new position as a probation officer with the Department of Corrections office. As of now, Guerrette will remain working in the area while with his new department.
Guerrette had been a full-time officer with the department for approximately 9-10 months, according to Limestone’s Police Chief Stacey Mahan.
“Shawn started working as a full-time officer about nine or 10 months ago, but he’d been a part-time officer for a number of years before that,” said Mahan. “He’s been a great cop for us and he’s always been really good with the community, whether it be with local schools, Job Corps, as he acted as our liaison with them.”
Chairman of the board, Tom Devoe, reiterated Mahan’s comments by agreeing that Guerrette was not only an excellent police officer, but an excellent young man in general.
“He was an excellent young man and he was very involved with the community,” Devoe agreed. “He simply found a better job and decided to leave. You can’t fault a man for that.”
Both Mahan and Devoe expressed nothing but gratitude toward Guerrette and wished him the best of luck going forward in his law enforcement career.
A motion to accept the resignation of Guerrette from the Limestone Police Department was made and the vote passed unanimously.
The board also signed a quit claim deed for Scott and Stephanie King for their property at 14 Huggard Ave.
The Limestone Police Department would like to inform everyone that there is a parking ban in Limestone from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. from Nov. 1 to April 15, per board of selectpeople.
The next Limestone Selectpeople’s meeting will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Limestone Town Office.
