NMCC No Shave November team
raises funds for American Cancer Society

PRESQUE ISLE, Maine The month of November was “growing strong” at Northern Maine Community College as 14 students, faculty and staff showed their support of the American Cancer Society’s No Shave November campaign by raising nearly $800 for the cause.

While it may have been relatively easy not to shave for a month, the people participating worked diligently to collect donations from across campus and in the local community.
“Everyone has been affected in one way or another by cancer at some point in their lives,” said Falcon team captain Leslie Jackson. “Many of us raised the money in honor of someone we lost to cancer or who is currently fighting the battle. This is an opportunity to raise awareness and help support the efforts of the American Cancer Society.”
No Shave November, a web-based non-profit organization, partnered with the American Cancer Society in 2013 to ensure that the funds raised in the annual campaign would be distributed to all of the areas that matter to the team: research, prevention, education and continuing care. With every whisker grown and dollar raised, No Shave November celebrates the hair that many cancer patients lose and gets one step closer to finding a cure and eradicating the disease.
