The Aroostook County 4-H Market Hog Show and Auction is extending its participation pool to 4-H members outside of Aroostook County. Anyone who would like to raise a hog for market and be a part of this experience should call the Aroostook County 4-H office to have his or her name added to the list.

The group will be taking names for this experience until Jan. 15.
The 4-H Market Hog Show and Auction will be held July 4, 2015 at the Houlton Agricultural Fair. Those who are currently a part of a Market Hog Group or Swine Club and would be interested in raising a hog for this show as well as for his or her club, is asked to get permission from his or her current leader.
Youth must be the 4-H age of 9-18 and be enrolled in 4-H prior to Jan. 1, 2015. The animal needs to be born in late December 2014-mid January of 2015. Youth will have to provide daily care, keep accurate records and have the animal housed at their place of residence no later than April 15, 2015. All hogs must be fed 100 percent grain.
Spots will fill up quickly, so those interested should not wait to sign up. There will only be eight hogs allowed to show and auction. An intent form must be filed with the Aroostook County 4-H office by Jan. 15, 2015. Once your intent form is received, Leisa Plissey will contact individuals.
