MONTICELLO, Maine — A 27-year-old Monticello man was arrested Oct. 20, 2014, charged with Class B trafficking in methamphetamine.
The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency’s Aroostook County Task Force and the Clandestine Drug Laboratory Enforcement Team (CDLET) executed a search warrant Oct. 21 at Matthew Thibodeau’s Lake Road residence in Monticello and located evidence of methamphetamine manufacturing.
On Oct. 20, Aroostook County Deputy Erica Pelletier went to Thibodeau’s residence on the Lake Road as part of a bail search. During this authorized bail search, Deputy Pelletier, who is also a member of MDEA’s clandestine lab team, noticed several items which were consistent with the production of methamphetamine. Upon this discovery, all occupants were evacuated from the residence and the house was secured by law enforcement pending the application for a search warrant.
At approximately 10 a.m. on Oct. 21, MDEA’s clandestine lab team, along with Aroostook County Deputies, executed a search warrant and during the subsequent search, agents seized a significant amount of evidence which is consistent with the illicit manufacturing of methamphetamine.
Thibodeau was transported to the Aroostook County Jail pending bail.
The Aroostook County Sheriff’s Department, the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, the Monticello Fire Department and a chemist from Maine Health and Environmental Testing Laboratory (HETL) assisted MDEA’s lab team at the scene.
This investigation is continuing and more arrests are likely.
