CARIBOU, Maine — Everyone’s got an opinion and, so long as it pertains to municipal matters, Caribou City Councilors want to know what that opinion is.
For the second time this year, voters who hit the polls will be queried once more upon exit for their anonymous opinion regarding city matters.
Whether it’s finding out how citizens feel about Thursdays on Sweden or whether they think the city should spend $65,000 on a new splash pad in place of the closed city pool, the councilors what to know how community members feel.
Mayor Gary Aiken explained that the first questionnaire, which coincided with the June 10 school budget vote, was very helpful for the governing group.
“It gives council a general feel for how people view things,” Aiken explained yesterday morning.
The questionnaire is anticipated to take about 2-3 minutes to fill out, and it contains more straightforward “yes” or “no” questions than its predecessor.
About 525 surveys were turned in during the June election, and the council is hopeful they’ll receive more responses this time around.
While the questionnaires are anonymous, those who wish to voice concerns or comments to the councilors directly will have an opportunity to do so. The elected officials will be on-site at the Caribou Wellness and Recreation Center during voting hours to answer any questions or discuss concerns with voters.
The results from the survey will be posted on the City’s website.
