    WOODLAND – Maynard E. Elliott, 76, died October 7, 2014, at his Woodland residence surrounded by his family following a brief illness. He was born in Presque Isle on March 17, 1938, the son of the late Elvin and Verna (Makepeace) Elliott.
    He married Sally Madore on November 26, 1960. Maynard attended the Woodland schools and was employed as an automotive technician for several area auto garages. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Town of Woodland Highway Department.
    Maynard truly loved family gatherings on holidays and during the summer with games of horseshoes or croquet. He loved to Bar B Que and was the “Bar B Que king”.
    Mr. Elliott was predeceased by a brother, Clarence “Sonny” Elliott and two sisters, Charlotte Campbell and Delores Pelkey. He is survived by his wife of over 53 years, Sally of Woodland; two sons, Alan Elliott and his wife, Chris, of Caribou and Dan Elliott and companion, Susan Belyea, of Woodland;  three grand-children, Rilee, Emilee and Nathan and one great -grandchild, Aria; one sister, Elaine Elliott, a special cousin, Cliff Chamberlain and wife, Judy, who were Maynard and Sally’s Saturday night Uno partners; many nieces and nephews.
    Friends visited with the family at the Mockler Funeral Home, 24 Reservoir Street, Caribou 1 p.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014, until time of services which were held at 2 p.m. from the funeral home with Rev. George McLaughlin, officiating. Interment was in the Woodland Cemetery.
