CARIBOU, Maine — Recent soccer summaries from the Caribou Parks and Recreation Department youth’s soccer leagues are as follows:

World League (Grades 5 and 6)

   Barcelona vs. Real Madrid — On Sept. 15, Alexis Gustin and Abbie McNeal played well in the midfield for Real Madrid with good defense and distributing the ball to the front line. Zach Judd was excellent at sweeper and Caleb Espling had another fine outing in goal.


Barcelona’s Sage Dubay has played outstanding defense this season and continued to do so in this contest. Barcelona were without a few key players, but managed to play well with great passing skills demonstrated by Oliver Peterson, Kaitlyn Nadeau, Jack Doody and Sam Marquis.
Real Madrid vs. Manchester United — In a highly contested game played Sept. 17, Tyler Seaman, Cody Martin, Landen Thompson and Ahlandra Engstrom-Jones were the standouts on defense. Matt Smith was once again solid in goal and Mia Theriault, Avery Knowles and Kaden DeMerchant worked hard in the midfield. Offensively, Logan Cheplic and Jordan Duplessie, who had the only goal of the game for Manchester United, worked very hard to break through a stingy Real Madrid defense.
Real Madrid’s Ethan Holdsworth found the net again in this matchup. Diego Fleury and Ari Plante worked hard to push the ball up the field and create some great goal scoring opportunities. Defensively, Ciah Bernard and Alexis Gustin had many stops to create offensive runs.
Real Madrid vs. Manchester United —  Real Madrid’s Ethan Holdsworth came alive in the second half of the game scoring three of his his goals in the Sept. 8 match. Devon Ouellette and Riley Bouchard each found the back of the net in this contest as well, while Diego Fleury added an assist. Abby McNeal, played well in the midfield. Alexis Gustin was a solid defender during the game and Caleb Espling was outstanding in goal as he surrendered just one. Zach Judd and Jacob Palmer also played well defensively.
Manchester United worked very hard defensively to combat the speed and strength of Real Madrid’s offensive attack. Matthew Smith and Tyler Seaman played very well in goal while Ryan Austin, Carter Belanger, Mia Theriault and Avery Knowles controlled much of the play at midfield. Cody Martin, Naomi Cote and Ryan Dee played well defensively.
Barcelona vs. Manchester United — Barcelona played shorthanded Sept. 10 but put forth a good effort and left everything on the field. They played a strong game but gave up two second-half goals after a solid first-half effort. The team was led by Sage Dubay and Oliver Peterson on defense, Jack Doody and Ethan Edgecomb up front, while Lucas Thompkins was solid in net making several great saves to keep the game close.
Manchester United scored their first goals of the season, one by Logan Cheplic (unassisted) and the other by Kaden Demerchant (assisted by Cheplic). Matthew Smith played well again in goal while Tyler Seaman, Cody Martin and Ahlandra Engstrom-Jones had excellent defensive efforts.

Premier League (Grades 3 and 4)

Galaxy vs. Red Bulls — In another tough game for Galaxy, Alex Belanger had a first-quarter goal with an assist from Eyzic McBreairty, while Logan Griffeth had two crucial saves as goalie. Lilly Bray and Ilsah Peterson had many good defensive plays in the second quarter. In the third quarter Eyzic McBreairty made a goal with an assist from Jesse Tagget.
Red Bulls scored two goals in this Sept. 15 contest, one by Anna Jandreau and the second by Eliott Sleeper. Landon Tracy had some amazing saves as goalkeeper.
Timbers vs. Revolution — The fans were treated to a great match Sept. 17, with the lead changing hands several times. The Timbers scored the tie-breaking goal with less than three minutes left in the game. Jaden Picard was outstanding for the Revolution as he scored all three goals and made several great saves while in goal. Kaleb Finelli, Selena Savage and Konnor Huckins, each contributed with assists.
Timber players Jude Shea and Ashlyn Bouchard both scored two goals and the Timbers defense was awesome the whole game.
Revolution vs. Red Bulls — The Revolution overmatched the Red Bulls in soccer action Sept 17. Darian Langille and Kaleb Finelli scored two goals each and Reece Cavagnaro chipped in with one goal. Goalies James Cherrier and Calvin Hersey only let one shot get past them with help of defensive players Calvin Chen, Cameron Belanger and Selena Savage.
Red Bulls’ Griffin McNeal scored two goals, one in the second and one on the fourth. Eliott Sleeper scored in the fourth quarter and Dawson Whitten scored in the third quarter. The Red Bulls continue to grow as a team.  Defensively, goalie Landon Tracy continues to wow the crowds with his amazing saves. Mackenzie Lagasse and Aileen De la Cruz continue to improve and be contributors day in and day out. Romeo Guitterez has excellent ball control and never backs down to an opponent. Jacob Walton serves as a great team captain as he is often overheard giving instructions to other players. Twin brother Justin Walton is an amazing defensive player and is consistently where he needs to be to help protect our goalie.
Alex Levesque shows tremendous hustle on the field and can outsprint nearly everyone to the ball. Abraham Bouchard and Phoebe Soloman are the silent contributors, and though they have yet to score, they have averted some key plays by our opponents and play vital roles. Blake Anderson and Landon Flemming are utility players, and they can be used in any position, though they both love to play goalie. Dawson Whitten, Eliott Sleeper, Anna Jandreau and Griffin McNeal have been fortunate enough to find the net for our team this year and are not afraid to handle the ball in an offensive position.
Timbers vs. Galaxy — On Sept. 17, the Timbers got their second shutout of the year. Jude Shea scored two goals. Dylan Bouchard scored a goal and Ashlyn Bouchard added three. Great work on defense was provided by Keegan Bell and Noah Anderson.
Although Galaxy didn’t score, they had a few good scoring chances by Alex Belanger, Jesse Tagget and Logan Griffeth. Defensively, Jasmine Berry and Lillian Bray kicked away a few scoring opportunities by the opposing team. Logan Griffeth and PJ McDonough also stopped several shots as the goalies.
Red Bulls vs. Revolution — Sharp passing and good hustle was displayed by the Revolution offense on Sept. 8 with Jaden Picard, Kaleb Finelli, Selena Savage, Darian Langille and Reece Cavagnaro each contributing one goal apiece. Konner Huckins and Mason St. Peter kept the pressure on goal with a couple of great shots. Great defensive stops by Tyra Sterner, Neveah Trombly and Calvin Chen, with aggressive goalkeeping by James Cherrier, Cameron Belanger and Calvin Hersey, kept the Red Bulls offense at bay.
The Red Bulls played hard in this tough match. Landon Tracy distributed the ball well to other teammates. Dawson Whitten and Griffin McNeal took some nice shots on goal and showed their hustle and physical athleticism on the entire field. Landon Flemming was tough in net.
Timbers vs. Galaxy —  Also Sept. 8, the Timbers’ Ashlyn Bouchard, Jude Shea and Dylan Bouchard all scored goals against a strong Galaxy team. Keegan Bell, Chris Corbin and Trey Gilbert all played great defense as the team played excellent team soccer.
Jesse Tagget scored the only goal for Galaxy. Logan Griffeth played well in goal by stopping several shots. The defense was also helped out by Emily Gallagher and Ilsah Peterson, who both kicked away a few shots by the opponent.
     Galaxy vs. Revolution — Kaleb Finelli of the Revolution was unstoppable Sept. 10 with four goals scored.  Mason St. Peter, Konnor Huckins, Darian Langille and Reece Cavagnaro each contributed a goal apiece with assists from James Cherrier and Tyra Sterner. Good goalkeeping was turned in by Calvin Hersey and Jaden Picard, with defensive stops by Selena Savage, Calvin Chen and Cameron Belanger.
The Galaxy fought very hard as a team. Jasmine Berry, Lillian Bray, Brady Jalbert and Eyzic McBreairty all played excellent defense in the second half, and Jesse Tagget had many good stops against the opposing offense.
Red Bulls vs. Timbers — The Timbers’ Keegan Bell scored his first goal of the season in match played Sept. 10. Ashlyn Bouchard, Jude Shea and Dylan Bouchard all blasted the ball in the back of the net in this contest as well. Trey Gilbert and Sofia Fleury showed great hustle on the field by playing incredible defense.
Landon Flemming had some great saves in this contest as there were many shots on goal. Annalise Jandreau’s speed and ball control helped the Red Bulls with offensive runs as Eliott Sleeper netted a “hat trick.” Jacob Walton and Blake Anderson each put the ball across the goal line as well. Mackenzie Lagasse, Abraham Bouchard, Alex Levesque and Justin Walton all played tough defense.
