Community Chorus members sought

The Houlton Community Chorus is 50 years old this year. The first concert was in the fall of 1964, under the direction of Paul Paige, then vocal director at Ricker College, and it consisted of sacred and secular Christmas music. The chorus has presented two concerts almost every year since then.

FS-CommunityChorus-dcx-pt-39GEARING UP — The Houlton Community Chorus is getting ready for its 50th year of concerts and is looking for singers to join their group. A meeting will be held Thursday, Oct. 2 at the First Baptist Church in Houlton.

Everyone in these productions has been from the Houlton area, all volunteers, with a wide range of musical experience.
The Chorus is looking for new members. Anyone who enjoys singing is invited; there are no auditions. The first meeting of the chorus this fall will be held at First Baptist Church, 46 Court St, Houlton, on Thursday Oct. 2 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Plans for fall and spring concerts will be discussed over coffee and sweets, and we’ll do a bit of singing if time permits.
