PT Ruth Vandeyar    LAGRANGE, NY – Ruth F. Vandeyar, 57, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 15, 2014, in her home surrounded by family and friends. She was born in Danforth, ME, September 22, 1956, to Bertha and James Hannigan.
She spent the majority of her younger years in the company of her grandparents, George and Frances Cropley, and her aunt, Rhoda Veysey, who always held a special place in Ruth’s heart.
She worked as a nurse for many years, helping others fight the same disease that she herself had battled. Ruth had a passion for helping people and left a lasting impression of love with everyone that had been touched by her wonderful heart. She taught that positivity and perseverance are truly the best ways to get through a hard time in one’s life.
Ruth attended and graduated from Houlton High School in 1974 then went on to graduate from the University of the State of New York as a registered professional nurse. She worked at Northern Westchester Hospital for many years and later earned the necessary qualifications to practice oncology nursing, finding her true calling at Mount Kisco Medical Group. She made many lifelong friends during her career including her very close friend Michelle Geraci, whose dedication and kindness throughout her toughest time will never be forgotten.
Ruth is survived by her devoted husband of 31 years, David J. Vandeyar; their three wonderful children, David (24), Michael (22), Deanna (14); and countless friends and family members, including many special nieces and nephews; and her sister, Tammy and brother-in-law, Peter Blanchette who made the nine hour journey from Houlton to LaGrange, NY frequently. Ruth’s love for all the people in her life was sincere and unconditional.
