PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Kiwanis Youth Day was held Aug. 23 at the Forum and incorporated other community groups to create a fun and safe place for local kids.
Eleven Kiwanis members attended or were involved in the event, along with friends and family as support.
Having 50 volunteers from Presque Isle High School, along with pageant queens from the community, made this day possible.
In addition to the 375 children attending, many parents and grandparents also stopped by throughout the day.
The biggest and unforeseen success of the Kiwanis Youth Day was the volunteer support. This day was pulled together by club members, community members and the local youth who served as volunteers.
There was positive feedback from the families that attended, both children and parents. The club reported that this was one of the most successful youth days in the history of the program.
Other groups participating were Care and Comfort, Cary Medical Center and Pines Health Services, the Masons, MMG Insurance, Presque Isle Rotary Club, United Way Dolly’s Imagination Library and Emera Maine.
