CRAIG, Brenda L. (Beckwith), 69, PRESQUE ISLE, ME & MILLBROOK, AL, at Millbrook, AL, July 3, 2014. An interment will be at a later time with her family.
PRESQUE ISLE, ME & MILLBROOK, AL – Brenda L. (Beckwith) Craig, 69, passed away unexpectedley on July 3, 2014, at her residence. She was born May 21, 1945, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Charles S. and Kathleen C. (Brewer) Beckwith.
Brenda graduated from Presque Isle High School, Class of 1963. Her first job was at their family business, Beckwiths Diner and went on to a job at Opportunity Training Center as a teacher’s aide, where she filled the classroom with her loving, caring personality. She retired in 2008 from the Northeastland Hotel. In those 27 years, she befriended many customers and coworkers, and loved sharing family stories, talks about politics and her great love of harness racing.
When she retired, her kids, Cindy and Doug, talked her into moving south to Alabama to be closer and spend her leisure retired days with them and her grandchildren. It was a big decision at the time for mom, since her sisters and everything she had grown up with was in Aroostook County. She made the move and never regretted it, she always loved keeping in contact with her family and friends back home, she would say “my home is now in Alabama, but my heart will always be in Maine.”
In addition to her parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents, Brenda was predeceased by a special son-in-law, Ricky A. Thibodeau.
She is survived by her loving children, Cindy of Prattville, AL, and Doug and Luci Craig of Millbrook, AL. Her grandchildren that were the center of her world, Lucas Craig and Curtis Thibodeau of Prattville, AL, and Sierra and Brady Craig of Millbrook, AL; her loving sisters, Susan (Beckwith) Rafferty of Exeter, NH, Joan (Beckwith) Robertson of Bangor, ME, and Jean (Beckwith) and husband, Edwin (Jr.) McLellan of Presque Isle; all eight of her nephews, Charlie, Patrick, Chris, John and Steve Rafferty, David and Tom McLellan, and Scott Robertson were loved by their Aunt Brenda. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends, and a special friend who grew up with her daughter, Heather K. Dixon.
A Catholic Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Prattville, AL, and an interment will be at a later time with her family. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in Brenda L.
