     LAWRENCE, Walter William Jr., 79, BLAINE, at Presque Isle, July 10, 2014,. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no services at this time with a gathering planned in the future for a celebration of his life. Arrangements are by Faye Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Presque Isle.

     BLAINE – Walter William Lawrence Jr., 79, ended his long battle with pulmonary fibrosis and cancer on July 10, 2014, in the company of family at TAMC, Presque Isle.
  American Flag Color  Walter was born on October 1, 1934, the son of Walter W. Lawrence Sr. and Sarah L. Gamblin Lawrence Bell, both deceased. He was pre-deceased by third son, Baby Lawrence; brother, Harley E. Lawrence; step-father, Austin F. Bell; sister-in-law, Ruth Treffrey Bell; mother- and father-in-law, Hants A. and Phyllis Draper White. Also pre-deceased are brothers-in-law, George A. White and Donald E. White; as well as special family members, Marjorie Bell who called “Junior” her “Little Brother”, and Clifford “Mike” Bell.
    He leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Martha A. White Lawrence; sons, Dean A. and Mary, Paul D. and Joyce, Robert W. and Lana Beth McBreairty; daughter, Phyllis L. McIntyre and David; step-mother, Vera Hudson Lawrence; sister, Janet Lawrence Levigne and Mark; brothers, Dana D. Bell and Paula, Harold Bell and Richard Lawrence; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Surviving extended family includes sisters-in-law, Wanda W. White, Raney White and Delores White; and brothers-in-law, James S. White and Janet, Roy E. White and Connie, and Wayne W. White and Jennie Jo; along with many nieces and nephews. Walter will also be missed by special friends, Frank Allen, Cheryl Wortman Robichaud and families.
    After graduating from ACI in 1953, Walter enlisted in the Army and served a two-year tour of duty in France accompanied by his bride, where first son, Dean, was born followed by five years in the Army Reserves.
    After working at First National and Sears for 16 years, he returned home to operate the family farms, most recently Lawrence Mountain Nursery with the family.
    One of the highlights of the year was his annual sales trip to the Christmas Tree Lot in Massachusetts, which he did visit this past season, for a total of 45 years.
    Walter served on the school board, was a proud volunteer on the Mars Hill Fire Department and supported and frequently volunteered at the Raven Food Pantry.
    Martha and her family wish to thank all his friends, family and neighbors for their support, with special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at both the VA Medical Center in Togus and Caribou and at TAMC in Presque Isle.
    In keeping with Walter’s wishes, there will be no services at this time with a gathering planned in the future for a celebration of Walter’s life.
    Walter loved his greenhouses for the tranquility and beauty they provided and was an honorable and gentle man who loved life, friends and family. He will be greatly missed by all.
