Sporting events big part of Fort Fairfield festival

    FORT FAIRFIELD, Maine — This year’s Maine Potato Blossom Festival features several sporting events, with some being held beginning this weekend.
A horseshoe tourney is scheduled Saturday, July 12 beginning at 10 a.m. at Riverside Park West. The fee is $20 per team and in the event of rain, the tourney will be held Sunday, July 13 beginning at noon.
On Tuesday, July 15, the girls’ softball tourney is scheduled at the Fort Fairfield Athletic Complex. The single-elimination tourney is for ages 9-12.
Also on July 15, a three-on-three basketball tourney takes place at the Fort Fairfield Community Center beginning at 6 p.m. Registration is held that day ending at 5:45 p.m. Those under the ages of 18 must have written parental consent in order to participate. The cost is $40 per team.
Several other events are scheduled July 16-20.
