CARIBOU, Maine — Caribou High School sports participants were honored on June 9 for their efforts on the baseball and softball diamond, tennis courts and track this spring.
End of the year awards were also handed out and Delaney Williams was named Outstanding Senior Female Athlete, while Kameron Manter and Matthew Milliard shared the Outstanding Senior Male Athlete award. Williams participated in soccer, basketball and softball and managed the baseball team this spring, while Milliard and Manter both played soccer and basketball, with Milliard also playing baseball and Manter competing on the track and field team.
Clara Collins and Cody Herbert received the Jack Gardiner Memorial Scholarship, which takes athleticism, citizenship and leadership into account, while Allissa Irving and Matthew Manter were recipients of the Paul Soucie Award, which is for athletes best demonstrating fair play, hard work, commitment and leadership.
All three awards are voted on by the CHS coaching staff.
Seven athletes received the Dwight P. Hunter Athletic Achievement Award, given to seniors who participate in fall, winter and spring sports for all four years of their high school career. They were Kameron Manter, Matthew Manter, Herbert, Irving, Williams, Milliard and Tyler Strid.
Letter sweaters went to athletes earning three letters in one sport and a combination of three in others, or those earning a total of seven letters. Recipients were Kameron Manter, Matthew Manter, Jacob Bither, Sammy Camy, Chaya Karunasiri, Mariesa Sarmiento and Collins.
