LIMESTONE, Maine — Since her arrival at the Loring Job Corps Center, Jacqueline Whitney has achieved the acknowledgement from both peers and staff as a student leader for the center.
Coming to Limestone from Malden, Mass., Whitney has completed numerous leadership classes at the center and has volunteered many hours as a student mentor; she often can be found assisting staff on a regular basis.
“Never asking for awards or recognition her desire and dedication to make any organization better is contagious, making her a role model for all on center,” explained Business and Community Liasion at the Loring Job Corps Center, Roger Felix. “Jacqueline displays the customer service skills sought after by employers making her a true asset to any organization.”
Scholastically, the Star Student of the Quarter chose to study the Medical Office Support Program on center and is training to earn her certificate of completion. Whitney looked to Job Corps as a way to achieve valuable training and a chance to grow both as a person and a leader; she expressed that she wishes to thank all staff on center for allowing her the opportunity to excel in her goals and would like other young ladies who are looking for a great training opportunity to look at Job Corps.
“Job Corps works,” she said.
Job Corps will be celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and over the past 50 years has become “Millions Strong.” Job Corps trains youth ages 16-24 at no cost. For more information about Job Corps, call 328-4212.
