Plummer speaks at Probus

    PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — Sonja Plummer-Morgan, the librarian at Mark & Emily Turner Memorial Library, was the guest speaker at the most recent Probus Club of Aroostook meeting, held June 19. Fifteen members and one visiting guest attended.
Plummer-Morgan, who grew up in Presque Isle, is the 11th librarian at the Turner Library since 1908. She received a bachelor’s degree in library studies at the University of Maine and a master’s degree in library science at the University of South Carolina.
Her many affiliations include being a member of the Wintergreen Arts Center board of directors, an ethics forum committee member at TAMC, a committee member for the American Library Association, past president of the Maine Library Association, a member of the Presque Isle Rotary Club and an executive board member of Aroostook Aspirations Initiative.
She gave a presentation on the history of the local library and explained the need for updating it.
The next Probus Club meeting is scheduled for July 17 at 10 a.m. at Northern Maine Community College’s Reed Commons.
