Many earn softball honors for University of Maine at Presque Isle

    OVERLAND PARK, Kan. — Seven members of the University of Maine at Presque Isle softball team were selected to either the first or second team for the All-Independent Team, which was announced last week.
Making the first team for the Owls were senior second baseman Brittany Luetjen of Hampden, sophomore first baseman Taylor Cochran of Topsfield and senior utility player Krista Coffin of Presque Isle.
Named to the second team were sophomore third baseman Shannon Brown of Calais, sophomore catcher Katie Patenuade of Presque Isle, sophomore outfielder Amanda Allen of Limestone and junior utility player Whitney Donovan of Ashland.
Softball coaches at member institutions of the Association of Division III Independents selected the award recipients during a conference call in late-May.
