EAST MILLINOCKET – Leah Waltz, 86, died May 7 in Bangor. She was born September 2, 1927, in Davidson, the daughter of John Cummings and Lucille (Emery) Cummings.
She was a graduate of Sherman High School, class of 1945. Leah will be remembered as a loving, generous person who will be greatly missed by her family.
She is survived by three children, Susan Pelkey and her husband, Roger, of Winterport, Michael Waltz of Stacyville and Timothy Waltz of East Millinocket; grandchildren, Michaela Zelz and husband, David, Lucas Pelkey and wife, Rabyn, and Sheena McMoarn and husband, Shawn; great-grandchildren, Tanner and Mason McMoarn and Sophia Pelkey; brothers, Earl “Buddy” Cummings and Gerald Cummings, both of Stacyville; sister-in-law, Lucille Cummings of Vernon, CT; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Lawrence; and her brother, Peter.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held 2 p.m. on Friday, May 9 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, East Millinocket with a luncheon following at St. Peter’s Parish Hall. Interment was in the East Millinocket Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may donate to the Lawrence Waltz Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of Schenck High School, East Millinocket, ME.
