       DUROST, Launa (Bubar), 85, BRIDGEWATER, May 7, 2014. Arrangements are under the care of Faye Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Presque Isle.

    BRIDGEWATER – Launa (Bubar) Durost, 85, passed away after a brief illness on May 7, 2014. Launa was born September 19, 1928, to Vaughn and Madeline Bubar of Blaine. She graduated from ACI in 1945. Launa married Burton Durost on July 15, 1947. They farmed together for 57 years until they retired. They raised two daughters, Trudy and Sherri. They shared 63 years of marriage, until his passing in August, 2010.
    Launa was a member of the Mars Hill and Blaine Jr. Extension and various other ladies’ organizations. She attended East Ridge Union Church and greatly enjoyed her church family. She was famous for her peanut butter fudge, homemade bread and “Launa’s Brownies”. She enjoyed cooking for everyone and hosted an annual Halloween party for family and friends, complete with her “hot-out-of-the-grease” doughnuts. In her early years she and her father ran a food booth at the Northern Maine Fair. In recent years she earned many awards for her crafts, sewing and cooking at the fair.
    Launa’s pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gram loved attending every event the grandkids were in. She never missed a sporting event, play, graduation, pageant or concert.
    Launa is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Trudy and Steve Clockedile of Blaine, and Sherri and Warren Cushman of Mars Hill; grandchildren, Liza Coulter and her husband, Michael of Mount Washington, KY, Jeff Clockedile of Blaine, Sam Clockedile and his wife, Abby of Mars Hill, Garrett Cushman and his wife, Amanda of Mars Hill, Deidre Clark and her husband, Shane of Chapman, and Damie Cushman of Mars Hill; “Grammie Launa’s” five great-grandchildren, Emma Coulter, Carson, Ethan and Connor Cushman and Holden Clark. She is also survived by brothers-in-law and their wives, Paul and Betty Durost of Mars Hill, James and Peggy Drost of Houlton; sister-in-law, Anna Marie Drost of Indiana; several nieces and nephews; many special friends; and her “Right hand man”, Calvin Crouse.
    She was pre-deceased by her parents; her husband, Burton Durost; sister, Susie Grass and her husband, John; brother, Philip Bubar and his wife, Yvonne; sister, Doris McCrum and her husband, Phil; brother-in-law, Reverend Woodie Drost.
    Calling hours were Monday, May 12, from 6-8 p.m. at Faye Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 5 Erskine St., Presque Isle. Services were held Tuesday, May 13, at 1 p.m. at East Ridge Union Church, Mars Hill officiated by Reverend Lawrence Beals. Reception immediately followed the ceremony at the church.
