LUDLOW, Maine — Residents interested in serving their community are needed to fill open seats on the Ludlow Board of Selectmen.
Traditionally, Ludlow has had a three-member board of selectmen, but in March 2013, voters approved expanding the group to five members. At the April 9 meeting, selectman Greg Dow submitted his resignation to the board via email. His seat will remain vacant until the next annual town meeting, scheduled for Wednesday, July 9.
Virginia McCain’s term on the board expires June 30 and McCain has opted not to seek re-election, according to Town Manager Diane Hines. McCain’s seat was originally set to expire in March, when positions were normally filled at town meeting. However, Ludlow held a special town meeting this past March to change its meeting schedule to a align with the SAD 70 school budget. Because of that change, McCain’s time on the board was extended until the next town meeting.
Nomination papers are currently available for two three-year seats on the board; one two-year term; and the unexpired term of Dow, who had one year remaining. Papers must be returned to the town office by May 25.
