PRESQUE ISLE, Maine — The Wildcat hockey team ended its regular season in style last Tuesday by shutting out Brewer at home, 5-0.
Alex Michaud scored 36 seconds into the game to set the tone. Tyler Seeley recorded a hat trick and Andrew Michaud had PI’s other goal. Alex Michaud had two assists, while Cooper Madore and Mikey Michaud added one each. Jillian Flynn stopped 24 shots for the shutout in goal.
PI, with a 12-5-1 record and No. 2 seeding, draws a bye through the quarterfinals and will next play in the Eastern Maine Class B semifinals against the winner of Tuesday’s game between No. 3 Waterville and No. 6 Hampden. The semifinal game is scheduled for Saturday at 5 p.m. at Sukee Arena in Winslow.
The EM championship will be played Tuesday, March 4 at Alfond Arena on the University of Maine at Orono campus at 7 p.m.
Senior Ryder Soucy was named last week as the Wildcats’ recipient of the Hobey Baker High School Character Award.
The awards are given annually to one high school senior from each participating high school hockey program in the state and recognizes and rewards student-athletes for displaying exemplary character and sportsmanship in their schools and communities.
