BLAINE – Dana Lee Beals died February 7, 2014, at the V.A. Hospital in Togus. He was born in Blaine, April 11, 1942, the son of Cecil H. and Jessie E. (Craig) Beals. He graduated from Aroostook Central Institute in Mars Hill in 1961 and that same night, he married his high school sweetheart, Willa Glidden.
He was employed at Aroostook Farms Dairy as a route salesman for a number of years before entering the United States Army where he served a year in Vietnam. Shortly after his discharge from the Army, he went to work for the Maine Forest Service as a Ranger, a position he held for over 30 years, retiring in 1997. Even before he retired, he had built up a woodworking business which he and his wife operated from their home in Blaine for many years.
He was a member of the Bridgewater Fire Department and was the Vice President of the Maine State Federation of Fire Fighters for 10 years. He had a great love for the fire service and enjoyed the camaraderie of many fire fighters throughout the state.
He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife, Willa of Blaine; two sons, Devon of Blaine and Damon and his wife, Trish and their son Wyatt of Fort Fairfield. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Judy of East Holden; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Barbara and her husband, Robert Ritz of Deland, FL; and brother, Parker of East Holden, ME.
