The United Methodist Women met in the church vestry on Feb. 3 at noon with 10 members attending. Lunch was enjoyed after the food blessing.    The vestry was decorated in a Valentine motif. Afterwards, a delicious dessert was made and served by co-hostesses Ruth Sylvester and Diane Ketchum. After an hour of socializing, the business meeting was called to order by President Donna Brewer. She led all in the UMW Purpose Pledge and Prayer. There was no secretary’s report, as the January meeting was canceled.
Diane read any correspondence and gave the treasurer’s report. Diane, Donna and Elaine met earlier and worked on the 2014 proposed budget. Later in the meeting, members were given a copy of the new proposed budget. Members were then asked for approval, discussion took place and changes were made.
The president and members updated the old list of members, adding new ones and making the necessary changes to addresses and phone numbers.
A proposed date was discussed for cleaning the kitchen, possibly in May. The meeting was turned over to program chairperson Diane Ketchum, who presented a program on the pledge and budget. Members reported with their collection or pledge.
The next meeting will be held on March 3 on prayer and self-denial with co-hostesses Joan Boone and Joan Walsh.
After the benediction the meeting was adjourned. Members attending included: Donna Brewer, Diane Ketchum, Elaine Bailey, Ruth Sylvester, Joan Boone, Joan Walsh, Jackie Bradley, Gaye Cronkite, Daisy Campbell and Clara Hussey.
