CARIBOU, Maine — The Caribou Public Library will soon have a new look to its automation system with the upgrade to Atriuum Book Systems.
“The new system is 100 percent Web-based, is very user friendly and a great step up from our existing system,” noted Diane DuBois, library director. “Users will find the system versatile in searching and managing their accounts and provides instant access to the library’s collection via a mobile app.” Atriuum also features a search engine for children from preK through third grade. DuBois said that this attention-grabbing mechanism promotes a “people, places and things” visual search index, with a cartoon character that takes kids on an adventure, exploring the library’s catalog.
“Another key feature,” noted DuBois, “is that the system is already being used in our high school and middle school, so students are already familiar with it, which makes for an easier transition.”
The library will be closed Friday, Feb. 28 for an all-day training for staff with a “Go Live” date of Saturday, March 1. Library staff will be providing one-on-one training for area residents as needed.
Persons desiring additional information or to sign up for Atriuum training are asked to contact the library at 493-4124.
