NEW LIMERICK – Richard L. Emerson, 78, died Jan. 7, 2014, at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 4, 1935, at Houlton, the son of Vernon L. and Geneva (Laing) Emerson.
Richard was employed with the Maine Dept. of Transportation for over 25 years. He enjoyed fishing and hunting at Prides Mills with the boys.
Richard is survived by his sister, Florence “Fonnie” Emerson of New Limerick; nephews, Stephen Saunders, David Saunders, both of Hodgdon, Donald Saunders of Iowa, Danniel Saunders of Bangor; nieces, Brenda Cummings of Linneus, Becky Russell of Hodgdon, Ann Connolly of Florida; very special friends, Linwood Wellington and family of New Limerick, family friend, Brenda Lannigan, and the Tim Hortons’ Gang. He was predeceased by his parents; his “wife”, Marie Roy; brothers, Harold “Puggy” Emerson, Donnie Emerson and Ralph Saunders; and sister, Dolly Laing.
At Richard’s request, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will held in the New Limerick Cemetery in the spring.
